Getting Here

14367 Mattawoman Rd
Eastville, VA 23347

The Laughing King is located at the end of Old Town Neck Drive in Eastville. Follow Old Town Neck for about 4 miles, then take a right on Hungars Beach Road. You’ll know you’re in the right place when you see the white Hungars Beach sign. Follow that road to Mattawoman Road. Look for the small brown road sign on the right that takes you to a lane lined with white fences. Follow the lane and make a left down the tree-lined drive.

Parking

Park in front of the house on the left as you face the front. Congratulations you made it!  This is your house for the extent of your stay.

Where You Can & Cannot Go

The entire first floor, (with the exception of the downstairs Parramore Island Suite, located past the bookcase on the west side of the house), is yours to explore and enjoy.

The satellite photo of the farm shows roughly our property lines. If you are within 10 feet of a white horse fence you are on our property.  We have two beach access points. Through the duck house and down the steps is the first.  Once on the beach you can go as far left or right as you would like, until you hit the private property sign to the left and or the concrete break water, the breakwater is dangerous and strickly off limits so please steer clear, if you go rt you will go until you hit a little creek that is too deep to cross, at extreme low tide please stay a fair distance away from the clam farm to the right.  If you see a bunch of white pvc markers that is the clam farm.

You can follow the red line on the photo around the farm, the pond, the trails, etc

The red line through the woods to the left and or SW side of the photo is our other beach access. You will see a small white sign that says “beach” and a path through the lot and to the dunes and eventually to the beach.  Waterfront property owners in Va own to the mean low water mark where the water meets the land,  please be respectful of our Hungars beach neighbors and walk the waterline only.  The sand bar to the west of the beach is public property and free for you to explore and enjoy. This beach access is best enjoyed at low tide or at sunset weather permitting.  The top of the dune is the best view of everything.  Ask your host about tides and sunset times, also please review the rules of the road in our guest manual.  Please don’t wonder into any of our neighbors yards, beach steps, etc.  we have a wonderful relationship with everyone and with your help we will continue to.  There is also a plastic trash bin at the southern beach access. If you find any plastic trash while you are exploring this is where we put it.  Thanks!

These next two shots are the duck house beach access in the back yard. Please steer clear of the areas in red the yellow line marks the shoreline. This area as well as all of the water is yours to explore and enjoy. You will also find our collection of boats and boards here.  They are also yours to enjoy.  Please pull any boat or board you use as high up on the beach as you can so they won’t get washed away by the incoming tide.

The following group of pics is of our southern beach access. The circled area is where you can park.  The beach with the red lines is ok for walking but please don’t set up your beach chairs or towels there. The sandbar is where you will want to do that   The trail through the woods is marked by a little sign on a stick that says “beach”

-A low tide walk on the Sand Bar that is featured in our video, I was out there a few days ago on a very low tide and was able to walk for miles and miles on the broad expanse of sugar white sand. You can find the video by going to youtube and searching for laughing king couples retreat

We will be happy to give you more details on all these spots and more when you arrive.  Have a great day, MJ
